Foolish acts are those where lack of mindfulness leads to poor self-regulation and, in turn, reduced situational awareness. Although there is no single attribute of wisdom, the mechanisms of situational awareness and self-regulation give us information about the essential qualities through which wisdom can be recognized.
Developing self-regulation and situational awareness is as easy as developing mindfulness. Therefore, practice of Zazen, and/or Vipassana, will lead to greater awareness of self, greater control of self, and greater control of your life.
Meditation is the first step on the path to wisdom. :)
